Policies and Guidelines
Become a Client
- Review our submission policies under "Deliver a Sample."
- Send sample and the appropriate submission form to LADDL, LSU, River Road, Room 1043, Baton Rouge, LA 70803.
- A client account will be established in our LIMS system once we receive your first submission.
- After you have an account with us, you can then use the discounted FedEx labels for shipping and register for the Client Portal to access your results.
Laboratory Policies
- A completed submission form must accompany all specimens. Submissions are subject to an accession fee.
- Information regarding submissions will be maintained in confidence. Results are reported to the paying client listed on the submission form and any authorized third party identified by the submitter.
- The LSU Diagnostics does not provide treatment recommendations. Clients should consult their veterinarian for interpretation of results and medical advice.
- All submitted specimens, associated materials, and documentation become the property of LSU Diagnostics and may be used for diagnostic, surveillance, research, educational, or assay development purposes. Animal remains and personal items will not be returned. This provision does not apply to animals submitted for private cremation.
- LSU Diagnostics does not accept non-human primate specimens, except formalin-fixed tissues submitted for testing.
- LSU Diagnostics reserves the right to subcontract testing as necessary. Any subcontracted testing will be identified on the laboratory report.
- Positive results for reportable diseases will be reported to the appropriate state or federal agencies as required by law.
- The LADDL does not accept or euthanize live animals for diagnostic testing, except small production poultry and small rodents. Contacting the laboratory prior to submission is strongly recommended.
- Specimens submitted without a completed submission form or a stated testing purpose may be disposed of after 72 hours, and disposal charges may apply.
- Fees are subject to change without notice. Current test offerings and pricing are available in the laboratory test catalog.
- Payment is due according to the terms stated on the invoice. LSU Diagnostics reserves the right to suspend services or pursue collection of delinquent accounts.
- Additional charges may apply for non-routine testing or analysis of non-standard specimens. Any such charges will be discussed with the client prior to testing whenever practical.

Billing Policy
LSU Diagnostics provides email billing only. Statements are generated and emailed on the first business day of each month, reflecting charges and payments from the prior month, along with any outstanding balances.
- Payment is due within 30 days of the statement date.
- Accounts over 60 days past due may be subject to suspension of additional testing services.
- Balances over 90 days past due will incur a monthly interest fee of 3.0%.

Authorization to Release Records
LADDL cannot release client information without proper authorization.
