GameDay Recycling Challenge
The GameDay Recycling Challenge is a nationwide competition among universities to reduce and recycle the waste generated at home football games. During each competition cycle, participating schools report recycling, compost and attendance data for at least one home football game. The challenge is administered by the College and University Recycling Coalition (CURC), RecycleMania, Keep America Beautiful and the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s WasteWise.
In order to increase our recycling numbers, we host a clean-up the day after the football game we choose for the competition. Student organizations who register to volunteer and have at least 10 members show up can earn a $250 stipend.

Help clean up campus after the LSU vs Alabama game in a competition against other universities to reduce and recycle tailgating waste! Student organizations who register with Campus Sustainability beforehand and have at least 10 members show up to volunteer will receive a $250 stipend.
To register, email sustainability@lsu.edu
One of our strategies for winning this competition is an aggressive marketing campaign called "Get Caught Green Handed", to encourage tailgaters, students and game-goers to recycle. A football signed by the Head Coach is awarded to whoever submits the best recycling selfie before, during or after the game!
