William Spatafora Brings Passion for Innovative Energy Solutions to Research Coordinator’s Role

William Spatafora is already playing a vital role in advancing energy research and community engagement initiatives as the newly designated Research Coordinator for LSU’s Institute for Energy Innovation.
Spatafora’s primary responsibilities are to coordinate research projects, collaborate with the interdisciplinary teams conducting research funded by IEI, and manage reporting on these groundbreaking studies. In the process, he hopes to promote a lower-carbon and more sustainable future for the region.
With a background in epidemiology, Spatafora is driven by a passion for environmental stewardship and innovative solutions to energy challenges. He is particularly passionate about developing strategies that foster sustainable growth and resilience in area ecosystems.
Spatafora brings a unique perspective to his work, integrating insights into communities from his public health experience with environmental research. He holds an undergraduate degree in biological sciences from Louisiana Tech University and a master’s degree in environmental sciences from LSU.
