Application Eligibility Criteria
The student must be enrolled in one of the following degree paths in:
- Computer Science or Computer Engineering
- E. J. Ourso College of Business
Additional requirements:
- Minimum GPA of 3.2.
- CSE Students must be willing to enroll in CSC 3999 and 4700 for the semester in which they are applying and would be enrolled in the clinic. Note that these classes can only count as technical electives, area electives, and/or general electives.
- All students must meet the requirements below for their respective clinical pathway to which they are applying.
- Note: Due to grant requirements, priority will be given to U.S. Citizens/Residents and undergraduate students.

CSE Student Teams
Students interested in this pathway are required to take CSC 2362 in the semester they are applying or before. While not a strict requirement, students interested in this pathway are encouraged to take CSC 4362 and/or CSC 4501 in the semester they are applying or before.
Required Course:
- Intro to Cybersecurity (CSC 2362)
Recommended Courses:
- Software Exploitation (CSC 4362)
- Computer Networks (CSC 4501)
Additional Training and Certifications Offered
- SANS Enterprise Penetration Testing (SEC560) - Students chosen for the TVA will be provided free registration for SANS SEC560 course. This course covers the web security assessment and penetration testing. Students are required to complete the training within 2 weeks.
- GIAC Penetration Tester (GPEN) - Students chosen for the TVA will be offered free registration for GPEN, one of the nation’s top certifications in penetration testing. The certification will enhance and solidify students’ expertise with real attack and exploitation examples and industry standards. Students are required to take and pass the certification exams before beginning the clinic.

Additional Training and Certifications Offered
- SANS Blue Team Fundamentals: Security Operations and Analysis (SEC450) - Students chosen for the CD clinic will be provided free registration for SANS’s SEC450 course. This course covers the technical knowledge and key concepts essential for security operation center (SOC) analysts and new cyber defense team member. Students are required to complete the training within 2 weeks.
- GIAC Security Operation Certified (GSOC) - Students chosen for the CD will be offered free registration for GSOC and will reinforce the student’s skills and knowledge in cyber defense. Students are required to take and pass the certification exams before beginning the clinic.
