Topic: Social Work Supervision Models and Methods: Cultivating Peak Performance

The supervisory relationship in social work is the most powerful vehicle for improving worker skills and for ensuring that clients are served effectively and efficiently. This interactive workshop is for social workers who want to expand their knowledge and practice skills in order to develop and sustain productive and satisfying relationships with supervisees and other colleagues. Participants will examine traditional and evidence-based models of clinical supervision and apply this information to current challenges shaping social work practice in diverse settings. Attention is paid to ethical issues that emerge in the supervisory relationship. Multicultural issues and strategies for enhancing cultural competence in the practice of supervision are also addressed.

About Dr. Catherine Lemieux

Dr. Lemieux serves as the Margaret Champagne Womack Associate Professor in Addictive Disorders at the LSU School of Social Work where she has taught research and practices courses since 1995. For over 20 years, she served as a clinician and supervisor in a variety of outpatient and institutional settings with individuals and families affected by substance abuse, sexual assault, and domestic violence.
