Brief Biography

As a lifelong Louisianian, Ashleigh R. Borgmeyer, PhD, LCSW-BACS grew up loving LSU and is honored to teach and mentor the social work students of this great institution. Ashleigh is the coordinator of LSU School of Social Work’s community outreach program, Tiger Tales, and Assistant Professor of Professional Practice. She teaches the three-course practice sequence in the BSW Program, bachelor-level electives (Child & Community; Social Work & Older Adults; Crisis Intervention), and aging content in the MSW Program.

Ashleigh’s practice and research interests intersect around cumulative trauma over the life course, the provision of trauma-informed crisis intervention, intensive case management, and supportive counseling services to survivors of violence in both hospital and community-based settings. She also engages in research surrounding pedagogical strategies in social work education to support better learning experiences for students. Ashleigh's goal is to be a positive part of each student's educational journey, supporting them in their current and long-term career aspirations.
