School of Kinesiology has Strong Showing at Southern District AAHPERD Convention

The LSU School of Kinesiology had a strong showing at the Southern District AAHPERD Convention in Lexington, Kentucky the weekend of February 22, 2014. The Southern District includes that states of Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi, North Carolina, Oklahoma, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas and Virginia.

LSU School of Kinesiology awards and positions included:

  • Human Movement Science junior, Ricky Richard, received the Outstanding Future Professional of the Year Award.

  • Associate professor, Dr. Russ Carson, received the Scholar of the Year Award.

  • CHSE Dean, Dr. Damon Andrew, received the Sport Professional of the Year Award.

  • Assistant professor Dorothy Jacobsen, became Vice President of the Sport and Leisure Division.

  • Assistant professor, Dr. Wanda Hargroder, reported to the Representative Assembly an update from LAAHPERD and Louisiana physical education/physical activity issues.

  • School of Kinesiology Alumna and Director of LSU Online, Dr. Charity Bryan, became Past-President of the General Division & received the 2014 Presidential Award.
