Graduate Students Provide Math Activities for Summer Fun
May 13, 2022
BATON ROUGE, LA - As a final project in Dr. Jennifer Curry's ELRC 7326: K-12 Career and College Readiness course, graduate students were asked to develop a math project for elementary or middle school students. The main objective was to provide parents with the opportunity to help their kids engage in activities at home, for little to no cost, that improved K-8 students’ math efficacy and understanding of careers that use math. Students created activities for fractions, telling time, exponents, and more. Greater math efficacy has been linked to reduced math anxiety, interest in math careers, and high math performance.
