National Board Certified Teacher Day is March 8th

March 3, 2023

BATON ROUGE, LA - The Lutrill & Pearl Payne School of Education recognizes March 8th as National Board Certified Teacher Day. We join Governor, Jon Bel Edwards, in recognizing, honoring, and celebrating teachers who have achieved the "gold standard" of teacher certification by earning National Board status. National Board Certified Teachers are accomplished educators who demonstrate the knowledge and skills to advance student learning and achievement. The maintenance of certification reinforces high standards and commitment to excellent teaching.

National Board Certified Teachers (NBCTs) exemplify quality teaching and aptly illustrate teaching as an esteemed profession. Teachers are trained to deliver content, recommended pedagogical practices, the psychology of teaching and learning, and non-cognitive measures such as dispositions. The National Board Certification Process certifies that its candidates have met standards of practice at the highest levels. An NBCT signifies quality.
