Higher Education Faculty to Host Virtual Open House
December 2, 2021
BATON ROUGE, LA - The LSU Higher Education faculty will host a Higher Education Virtual Open House for prospective students on December 13 at 12:00 p.m. and December 14 at 2:00 p.m. At the virtual event, attendees will have the opportunity to hear from and speak to current faculty members and students about the program. Two graduate programs will be discussed:
The Master of Arts (MA) in Education with an emphasis in Higher Education & Student Affairs (HESA) draws on the rich, interdisciplinary field of Higher Education. While there is no specific academic preparation for student affairs administration at the undergraduate level, any baccalaureate degree provides sufficient preparation. Current students hold bachelor degrees in a variety of fields, including business, communications, liberal arts, and sports management. Most students pursuing graduate education in higher education/student affairs are actively involved in campus life or are working at a college/university in a student services or related area.
The PhD in Higher Education program prepares scholar-practitioners for leadership in colleges and universities as administrators and scholars. Through an examination of higher education theory and practice, the program helps students understand the diverse nature of higher education institutions and their participants. With this understanding, graduates are expected to develop individualized styles of leadership that encompass educational excellence, respect for others, and contextualized practices.
