Recent Graduate, Adronisha Frazier, PhD, Selected as a STEM Student Success Post-Doctoral Fellow at University of Minnesota-Duluth
Adronisha T. Frazier, PhD, has been selected as a STEM Student Success Postdoctoral Fellow at the University of Minnesota – Duluth. Frazier earned her doctorate in Curriculum and Instruction with a focus on Science Education in Dec 2023. Selection of STEM Student Success Postdoctoral Fellowships was highly competitive and Frazier was selected from a field of potential candidates. Frazier will resign her position as Assistant Professor of Biology at Northshore Technical Community College (NTCC) and as the Natural Sciences Department Chair, and she will assume her postdoctoral fellowship in July 1, 2024.
Dr. Margaret-Mary Sulentic Dowell, Cecil “Pete” Taylor Endowed Professor in the Lutrill & Pearl Payne School of Education and Director of the LSU Writing Project, served as Frazier’s major professor. Sulentic Dowell shared, “Adronisha is poised and ready for this fellowship experience. I am very excited for her but not surprised; she was an exceptional doctoral candidate. Adronisha is the epitome of a changemaker.” During Frazier’s PhD journey, she published and was selected as an Open Education Resource (OER) Fellow, sponsored by the William and Flora Hewlett Foundation. Frazier was also the American Society for Microbiology (ASM) Young Ambassador to Louisiana from 2021 through 2023. Frazier earned her BA in biological science and her Master of Arts in biological sciences from Southeastern University. While earning her PhD, she also earned a Masters in Applied Research, Measurement & Evaluation from LSU, indicative of her dive, work ethic, and never-ending quest for knowledge.
The research-focused fellowship aligns with Frazier’ research agenda which includes creating and implementing engaging STEM content for secondary and higher education to improve scientific literacy and underrepresented groups in science education. “I am incredibly honored to receive this award,” Frazier stated. “It is significant as I continue my career as a researcher.“
