Sarah Wes

Sarah West

Sarah West, native of Kenner La., graduated from LSU with her BS in Early Childhood Education. She is now pursuing her MEd in Curriculum and Instruction from LSU.

"LSU wasn’t always in my plans for college, said Sarah. "I toured the university on a whim and knew immediately it was where I would graduate. There’s such a sense of culture and community that you can’t find everywhere, and I wanted to be a part of it!"

When asked what her favorite class was, Sarah said "this is such a hard question when you’ve graduated from the PK-3 Teacher Education program at LSU. I can recall multiple things that remain meaningful to me throughout my days of teaching. The instructors are so intentional with the material and the way it’s presented. From advocating for early childhood education and the profession to incorporating the latest teaching techniques in every lesson, they’ve truly shaped my life as a teacher."

After graduating in May of 2015, Sarah began teaching as a teaching associate at the LSU Child Development Laboratory Preschool.

Now she is a lead teacher at the new LSU Early Childhood Education Laboratory Preschool, an incoming graduate student, and has been published on the National Association for the Education of Young Children’s (NAEYC) national guest blog.

"I’d like to continue on the path of bringing developmentally appropriate teaching to children throughout Louisiana and guide other teachers throughout the country to using these approaches," said Sarah.

Sarah's LSU degree has led her to be impactful and collaborative.

Sarah was published on the NAEYC guest blog for her work with the preschool's "toy shop."
