LSU Researcher Listed Among Most Highly Cited in 2019
|
|
|
LSU science faculty members continue to rise in the world of research. Among those
in the recently released Highly Cited Researchers list was Brant Faircloth, assistant
professor of biological sciences. Faircloth was cited a total of 8,149 times during
2019 and appeared in more than 85 publications.
The Highly Cited Researchers list identifies global research and social scientists
who have demonstrated exceptional influence in their fields. These highly cited papers
rank in the top 1 percent by citations for a chosen field or fields and year in Web
of Science. Of the world’s population of scientists and social scientists, the listed
researchers are one in 1,000, according to the Web of Science Group.

Staff Outstanding Service Award Nominations Open
|
|
|
Nominations are now being accepted for the 2019 LSU Foundation Staff Outstanding Service
Awards. The awards were established to recognize full-time, non-academic staff employees
of LSU and the AgCenter who demonstrate superior work performance and service.
The instructions and nomination form can be accessed at lsufoundation.org/serviceawards. The deadline to submit nominations is Wednesday, Dec. 4, 2019.
A reception honoring the 2019 recipients will be held on Tuesday, Jan. 21, 2019, at
3 p.m. at the Noland/Laborde Ballroom of The Lod Cook Alumni Center. All faculty and
staff are invited to attend.

Report Shows LSU’s Return on Investment Ranks #1 Among SEC Public Universities, High
Among Peers
|

|
A new report from the Georgetown University Center on Education and the Workforce,
“A First Try at ROI: Ranking 4,500 Colleges,” shows LSU is No. 1 in the SEC among
public universities in one of the important return on investment categories highlighted
by the study and is highly ranked among national peers.

LSU 100: Fastest Growing Tiger Businesses Announced

The LSU 100 is a highly competitive program that identifies, recognizes and celebrates
the 100 fastest growing LSU graduate-owned or LSU graduate-led businesses in the world.
This year, LSU also introduced the ROARING 10 list. From all of the companies that
applied for the LSU100, the ROARING 10 list recognizes and celebrates the 10 highest

Out-of-State Vehicle Rentals
|
|
|
Effective Nov. 13, 2019, the Enterprise/National out-of-state vehicle rental contract
has been signed. The rental contract rates have been updated and are available on
the Accounts Payable & Travel website.
Short’s Travel Management has been informed of the contract rates and will resume
booking out-of-state vehicle rentals with Enterprise/National.
As a reminder, the Enterprise/National reservation links are also available on the
Accounts Payable & Travel website.

Year-End Roundup: Accessibility Reminder, Annual Trainings, United Way Campaign

Non-CMS Website Remediation
Websites outside of the university-supported content management system (CMS), OU Campus,
must be remediated as soon as possible by the managing unit to meet accessibility
requirements. Once the site is remediated, please submit appropriate remediation documentation
via this form.

Trainings Due Dec. 31
All public employees are required to complete one hour of training on the Code of
Governmental Ethics each calendar year. The Louisiana Code of Governmental Ethics training is located on the Ethics Board website. Upon completion, the employee will be provided
with a certificate that documents the completion of the course.
The Preventing Sexual Misconduct: Commitment to Community course is located on Moodle. Click "yes" to self-enroll. Once enrolled, click on
the link that says "Preventing Sexual Misconduct Training for LSU Employees." Then,
click "enter." After completing the e-course, you will be able to print out a certificate
of completion for your records. Please save a copy for your personal records as well
as forward a copy to your department's contact for reporting and compliance. It is
your responsibility to keep track of your individual certificate.

The Digital Resource and Content Accessibility Awareness Course, a new mandatory online
training, has been implemented for this academic year and is to be completed annually
by December 31. To take this course, visit the Digital Resource and Content Accessibility Awareness Community Moodle page. Click "yes" to self-enroll in this Community Moodle course.
Once enrolled, click on the link that says "Digital Resource and Content Accessibility
Awareness." Then, click "enter." After completing the e-course, you will be able to
print out a certificate of completion for your records. Please keep this certificate
and follow your department's instructions for reporting and compliance. For questions

GeauxGrants for Sponsored Projects Goes Live
|
|
|
The LSU Office of Research & Economic Development is pleased to announce the upcoming
deployment of the GeauxGrants Sponsored Projects module, which will replace the current
system, SPS, as the pre-award system for LSU on Jan. 1, 2020. GeauxGrants will allow
users to develop and route proposals, submit post-award modification requests, submit
proposals directly to Grants.gov and NIH ASSIST and review and approve awards and
subawards. GeauxGrants will also integrate with the existing Conflict of Interest
module as well as the upcoming Human Subjects and Animal Subjects modules that will
deploy over the course of 2020.
- Effective Jan. 1, 2020, all proposals must be routed at least seven days prior to the proposal submission deadline to assure appropriate reviews and routing.
- All proposals with deadlines on or before Jan. 9, 2020, must be routed in SPS no later
than Dec. 18, 2019.

December 3 – Holiday on Campus
LSU Staff Senate will be hosting the 30th annual Holiday on Campus event for LSU students
and the children of LSU students, staff and faculty. The event will be held on Tuesday,
Dec. 3, at the LSU Student Union from 6-8 p.m.
There will be a variety of holiday crafts, games and activities as well as entertainment,
refreshments and a visit from Santa. Since the event is charity-oriented, children
are asked to bring a new unwrapped toy for the United States Marine Corps “Toys for
Tots” program. Adults are asked to bring a non-perishable food item for the LSU Food
Pantry.

The Black Faculty and Staff Caucus Signature Gala, which supports the LSU Black Scholars
Awards Program, will be held at 7 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 6, in the Business Education
Complex Rotunda. Ticket sales end on Dec. 4.
