Provost's Fund Symposium
In January 2022, Executive Vice President & Provost Roy Haggerty, in partnership with the Office of Research & Economic Development, established a $1.8 million dollar fund for faculty in support of interdisciplinary research in alignment with President Tate’s Scholarship First Agenda. The LSU Pentagon includes five priority areas: agriculture, biomedicine and biotechnology, coast and environment, defense and cybersecurity and energy—key economic drivers for Louisiana based on existential needs—across every discipline, department, college and program.
The Provost’s Fund for Innovation in Research (PFIR) supports single-investigator projects as well as projects led by large, interdisciplinary research teams. Also, the PFIR supports the dissemination of research through travel, talks, and conferences and research infrastructure improvements, including equipment repair. While many of the projects fall within a priority area, several span multiple priority areas.
Over the last 3 years, $5.4 million dollars have been made available through the Provost's Fund for Innovation in Research.
