LSU Online Recognized in U.S. News & World Report’s 2018 Best Online Programs Rankings
BATON ROUGE – In U.S. News & World Report’s 2018 Best Online Programs ranking, both the LSU Online MS in construction management and LSU Online Flores MBA Program are highly ranked.
The LSU Online MS in construction management is ranked 12th among public colleges and universities and 16th overall. LSU Online Flores MBA Program is ranked 41st among public colleges and universities and 51st overall.
U.S. News & World Report also ranked the best online programs that help veterans reduce the cost for school. LSU’s MS in construction management ranked 10th in engineering programs for veterans, and LSU’s online MBA ranked 25th in online MBA programs for veterans.
“We are pleased to see U.S. News & World Report recognizing our LSU Online programs in their 2018 rankings, especially the recognition for veterans who are looking to earn a master’s degree online,” said Matthew Lee, LSU vice provost for academic programs and support services. “After launching LSU Online only a few years ago, we understand the demand for online programs and are proud to offer these great educational opportunities in a flexible environment.”
Online Engineering Program Ranked Top 20
LSU College of Engineering maintained its top-20 status in the U.S. News & World Report’s 2018 rankings of Best Online Graduate Engineering Programs, finishing T-12 among public institutions and T-16 overall.
“Part of our strategic plan as a college is to reinvent the way we do things to better serve the needs of the people of Louisiana,” said Judy Wornat, dean of the College of Engineering. “To that end, our online program is one way that we are able to reach students who want to pursue a top-tier education at the LSU College of Engineering, regardless of geography. I’m proud to see it receive the national recognition it deserves.”
Schools were ranked using five categories – student engagement, faculty credentials and training, peer reputation, student services and technology, and admissions selectivity.
The LSU Online MS in construction management program is accredited by the American Council for Construction Education, or ACCE. It offers a unique blend of leadership, construction and business management courses. It is designed to develop leaders and managers of complex building projects with mastery in the best practices contained within sustainability, building information modeling, project delivery, and decision making. There is no separate degree designation for campus or online.
Flores MBA Program Ranked in Top 20 Percent
U.S. News & World Report released its 2018 Best Online MBA Program rankings, placing the LSU Online Flores MBA Program T-41 among public colleges and universities and T-51 overall on its list of 267 ranked programs.
“We are happy about what this ranking says about the quality of our online MBA program,” said Dana Hart, director of the Flores MBA Program. “We are in the top 20 percent of all ranked programs. Our online students are an exceptional group who are doing great things around the world. This ranking recognizes both the superior return on investment for our graduates and the value of the LSU brand.
“Our academic standing among other outstanding programs in this ranking is a testament to the continued efforts of our world-class faculty, students, staff and alumni.”
In compiling the 2018 rankings, USNWR ranked online MBA programs using five categories – student engagement (28 percent), admissions selectivity (25 percent), peer reputation (25 percent), faculty credentials and training (11 percent), and student services and technology (11 percent).
Overall, USNWR ranks the Flores MBA program 33rd among public institutions in its “America’s Best Graduate Schools — Business Schools.”
The Online Flores MBA program is designed for professionals with at least five years of work experience. Recognized by some of the world’s most influential business thought leaders, this program helps students hone the leadership, management and critical analysis skills to set themselves apart in any industry. The program consists of 14 courses, each being seven weeks long.
