LSU Summer Language Camp
Hola and Hallo! Welcome to the LSU Summer Language Camp 2024 for Spanish and German. This program will be for elementary-aged students (6-10 years old) and will run for two weeks:
- June 10-14 (9 am - 4 pm)
- June 17-21 (9 am - 4 pm)
The LSU Summer Language Camp will take place at LSU's World Language Lab & Resource Center located in Prescott Hall room 234. Prescott Hall is located on LSU's Quad right in the heart of campus.
The camp will offer Elementary-aged students two weeks of language and cultural instruction. Get immersed in this unique experience where students will have the chance to participate in a variety of activities learning the Spanish and German languages and cultures with experienced LSU faculty.
The Spanish language course will be taught by an Instructor of Spanish from LSU. The German language course will be taught by Dr. Mike Dettinger, a Senior Instructor of German at LSU. Each language program will also have a student worker to assist with language lessons and activities with the students. Below is a short description of the camp's activities:
Language Lessons
- Interactive Language Activities to practice:
- Reading
- Writing
- Listening
- Speaking
- Games and Movies in Spanish and German
- Online Exercises and Apps for Spanish and German
- Cooking Lessons of cuisines from the Spanish- and German-speaking worlds with Dr. Judy Myhand, an Instructor in LSU's School of Nutrition & Food Sciences
Program Cost
The two-week program cost is $550 plus a $50 registration fee. Program and registration costs will cover books, learning materials, and a daily snack. Please have a lunch for your child for Monday-Thursday. Friday lessons each week will focus on cooking lessons and lunch will be provided.
