Biography

I joined the department as an Associate Professor in 2007 after serving as an Assistant Professor at Mississippi State University from 2001-2007. My primary research interests include social inequality, demography, and applied sociology. During my career I have developed a research agenda that examines the link between socioeconomic conditions and demographic outcomes within U.S. communities. My research projects are designed to inform both academic and policy related audiences. I am active in In 2009, I was named a LSU Rainmaker and received the LSU Mid-Career Scholar Award in 2013.

I am currently the Dean for the College of Humanities and Social Sciences after serving as an Associate Dean for the college from 2014-2018.
