About Labour

Labour, since its inception in 1900, has championed the values of the hard-working families of Britain. The party that today leads Britain began as an interest group and has continued to value the viewpoints of working citizens. Still, Labour has made great progress since the party formed its first government in 1924.
Over the years, Labour has brought innovation to improve the lives of Britain’s families, including the creation of the National Health Service, ensuring healthcare for every citizen.  The party has made great strides for the nation by advancing education, protecting the environment and championing the values of decency and opportunity. Throughout, the party has been committed to increasing success for women, minorities and people from all sectors of society.
As we move forward in 2007, Labour will continue to create policy reflecting the values on which it has rested for more than 100 years. As a defender of social justice and equity, Labour is committed to creating opportunity for every citizen in the context of strong national and international communities.
