Shirley
Staples Carter is the director of the
School of Journalism and Mass Communications
at the University of South Carolina. Carter is a
past president of the Association of Schools of Journalism and Mass
Communications, a member of the Accrediting Council on Education in
Journalism and Mass Communications and the Association for Education
in Journalism and Mass Communication.
Felix Gutierrez is a visiting professor at the
University of Southern California’s Annenberg
School for Communication. He is
former senior vice president of the Freedom Forum and Newseum and
executive director of the Freedom Forum’s Pacific Coast Center in
San Francisco.
Ralph Izard is a Senior Fellow
at
Louisiana State University's Reilly Center for
Media & Public Affairs,
and served as director of the E.W. Scripps School of Journalism at
Ohio University for 12 years. He was a Freedom Forum fellow at the
Media Studies Center in New York from 1998-99 and editor of the Newspaper Research Journal from 1998-2000.
Saundra Keyes
has been editor of
The Honolulu Advertiser since December 2000. She is a member of the American Society of
Newspaper Editors and represents the group on the Accrediting
Council on Education in Journalism and Mass Communications.
Neil Reisner,
a veteran reporter, editor and media trainer, has over two decades
of print journalism experience across both Florida and New Jersey.
He teaches courses in Multi-Ethnic Reporting and Database and Public
Records Reporting at
Florida International University.
Clint Wilson teaches courses
in media ethics, multiculturalism in mass media and Black press
history at
Howard University in Washington, D.C. He has authored or co-authored five books and
worked as a professional journalist for major news organizations.
Keith Woods teaches writing,
reporting, editing, column-writing, coverage of race relations,
ethics and diversity at
The Poynter Institute. He
also edits "Best Newspaper Writing," published annually by Poynter.
