Job Description: New Opening for Expanding Hospital: Veterinarian

You have a lot of choices these days and trying to find the right fit is difficult. I remember that well. There was a lot of advice and suggestions as I started out. I had many questions and concerns. Some are the same as they were then but there are issues you must navigate through today we didn't have when I graduated.

Question like is there quality mentorship? Do they really practice best medicine and surgery? Will I truly grow professionally? Is there value added in production based income?

Is there options to obtain ownership on day 1? Time off? Weekends? Emergencies? What about my personal time? Is there a plan to help pay down student loans? As I listen to veterinarians and even those soon to graduate, these are most of their concerns. I'm certain you can add to the list.

So who are we? Why consider us?

First we are busy, 90% small animal / medicine & surgery practice. We practice by best medicine standards. We are in the process of becoming AAHA certified. We teach in depth diagnostic protocols, some of the best client care skills, and basic to advanced surgery, ultrasound, endoscopy and diagnostic arthroscopy. If someone is inclined toward surgery they will be instructed on orthopedics, ie. TTA, CBLO, Bone Plating. Additionally we are a founding practice of a new teaching hospital for 4th year students and technical training partner for a junior college technician program. Our standards are as high if not higher than the veterinary colleges you graduated from.

We are in a rural area just east of Dallas. It is a complete myth you can't make as much in rural practice as you can in an urban one. We found the opposite in fact. Traffic issues, congestion ? None. Long drive times to work? None. We are 50 min. from downtown Dallas and all a city offers. Cost of living will impact your ability to make financial headway. My cost of living is 35% less than my peers in town. Consider it a 35% increase in your earnings. I don't want you to just survive. I want you to thrive and have the best of the best this profession brings. One program we are initiating is to help you pay off your student loans. We will look at your situation and match a plan that's best for you.

We are in the planning stages of a new state of the art practice, with the most advanced diagnostic and imaging capabilities anywhere.

We pay 100% for CE. There's no dollar amount given as a stipend. We are intentional in your professional and personal development. You will have mentorship on every area veterinary practice including business and money management. I never received any training and had to learn the hard way. I want to give you head start.

There are many advantages to our kind of practice but you'll have to see that for yourself.

Our policy of recruitment is one of attraction rather than promotion. We have a lot to be attracted to. I raised my children in a rural community and found it farther reaching to their overall success than anything we experienced in a large urban city. They had land to run on and things to engage their minds we couldn't duplicate in town.

It's my opinion that most practices hiring have the practice's best interest in mind. But I want this decision to include what's in your best interest as well. I have no problem being honest by telling someone this is not a good fit.

Finally we offer all the personal and professional benefits you would expect.

I truly want to help the next veterinarian to have as fine and as profitable a career as I have had. How do you gain any equity as you work? You can't get that in large multi doctor / corporate practices if ever and not until years later if at all. I know. I started and worked in

3 well known groups over my 35 years. Your financial success is not part of their plan. I sat in those board rooms and know first hand corporate success was all that mattered.

Please call me directly on my cell phone for any questions you may have. I look forward to meeting you. Please send a resume to Jennifer at vzaccmanager@yahoo.com as well.

Passion Over Pedigree

Of course, being a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine requires AVMA-certified credentials, skill, dedication and a desire for continuing education. That said, there is no substitute for passion, soul and the empathy it takes to care for animals. As important as on-paper qualifications can be, at the end of the day, we seek out those who care most about delivering exceptional client and pet experiences, every day.

Benefits (because our client cares for those who care)
Just like our client believes their patients deserve the best, they want you to know how much they care about you, too. That's why they offer a diverse range of benefits and programs, including personal wellness and professional development, that help you take care of yourself and your family.

When you join the team, you'll see that the competitive salary is only the beginning. We offer savings, health and insurance benefits, including 401(k) participation and employee discounts on pet care. Plus, you'll enjoy medical, vision, dental, life and disability insurance based on eligibility.

Our client is transparent: They know that like any profession, working in pet healthcare can be stressful sometimes. Our client's work-life balance benefits and programs - like paid vacation - will help you rest up and recharge when you need it.

The Sky's the Limit
Do you want to make the most rewarding move of your career? Of course you do (and you deserve it). Newly certified and experienced Doctors of Veterinary Medicine alike find that opportunities abound with our client. Whichever direction you want to grow, they are here to support it. Some of our past Doctors have participated in:

  • Performance development plans that help you focus and achieve your career goals.
  • Continuing education (on us!)
  • Community involvement and enrichment activities.

And that's just a snapshot. Bring your ideas - they are always ready to hear them.

Our client is invested in finding the right Doctor of Veterinary Medicine, because they know that you'll make a huge impact. In return, they will commit to supporting the wellness of our people and our profession.

We are conveniently located in Harker Heights, Texas, approximately 1 hour north of Austin and 3 hours south of Dallas. Enjoy a low cost of living and avoid daily traffic jams while still being able to enjoy the city when you want. We firmly believe in fostering a healthy work-life balance. In support of this philosophy, all after-hours emergencies are sent to a local emergency clinic. Drs. rotate coverage of hospitalized pets as we are closed every Saturday, Sunday, and Federal holidays.

Our immaculately clean clinic has seven exam rooms, treatment room, surgery suite, an ICU with oxygen cage, quarantine ward and hospitalized patient runs. We also have a full service boarding and grooming facility. Each day is different, and our doctors have the tools they need on hand: ultrasound, flexible endoscope, digital radiology to include dental, in house CBC and blood chemistry and urine analyzer, dental machine, Bovie machine, Barehugger, cold therapy laser, numerous fluid pumps and fluid warmers, new upgrades in the surgery suite and a totally digital medical record system.

Whether you are a seasoned veterinarian or a new grad, we believe our mentoring environment and supportive professional staff will help you grow as a veterinarian. Our generous starting salary ($80,000+) and progressive benefits package including paid time off, medical, retirement, reimbursement of CE, reimbursement for State and DEA licenses, reimbursement of relocation expenses, etc are designed to support a comfortable lifestyle.

Job Description

Animal Emergency Hospital of Mansfield, located in suburban DFW, is seeking to hire an additional emergency veterinarian. As a privately owned practice, we currently have 7 DVMs with a total of 41 experienced and compassionate team members. We offer 24/7 emergency, critical care and referral services throughout the southern DFW metroplex. We are AAHA accredited, and offer in-house bloodwork, digital radiography, blood and plasma transfusions, continuous oxygen support, soft-tissue surgery, ultrasound, echocardiography and video endoscopy.

Mansfield is a part of the ever-expanding Dallas/Fort Worth metroplex but still retains a small town feel with a population of just over 67,000. Mansfield has been voted to Money Magazine's top 50 Best Places to Live four times. With a quality of life considered to be one of the best in the Metroplex, Mansfield offers more than 500 acres of parkland, a historic downtown area, recreational opportunities for young and old, superior rated schools, quality housing and a growing business community.

The ideal candidate is one that can multi-task, performs well in a team environment and has excellent communication and client service skills. We perform progressive medicine, but feel that client service, referring DVM communications and staff morale are just as important. Although experience is preferred, we are willing to train a new graduate if the fit seems right. The current position is a full-time overnight or mid-shift position with a great rotating shift of 3 shifts on, 3 shifts off. We offer an extremely generous base salary plus production and benefits including signing bonus, health, dental and vision insurance, 401K with matching, paid time-off, continuing education allowance, professional dues, license renewal and much more. If this sounds like the combination of work/life balance you are seeking, please submit your resume to Dr.TRouquette@MansfieldAnimalER.com for consideration.
