In addition to great hiking and a world class university, the University of Arizona (and their new College of Veterinary Medicine), Tucson is an eight hour drive (or 45 minute flight) from San Diego and beautiful California beaches; four hours from Flagstaff, AZ (skiing at 11,500 feet and the nearby Grand Canyon, as well as the Navajo Nation and Hopi Reservation) and a four hour drive from the beautiful Mexican beach town of Puerto Penasco (Rocky Point) located on the Gulf of California.
