Aquiles Parodi

One day I was driven to walk,
And walk indeed I did,
Around the world I walked,
And about this walk I´ll talk.

As I came out an old man I saw,
Ragged clothes the old man wore,
And standing saw the old man in awe,
Since his old mind was now bizarre.

I stumbled upon a corpse most dead,
A corpse clutching his bored chest,
And little did I linger around this corpse´s dread,
For his eyes were deep in his head.

Much more I traveled in these lands,
Traveled more toward distant nations,
The traveling years wrinkled my hands,
And traveling seared a melody in my mind.

One day I stayed with a military man,
And the man´s head a rift possessed,
This soldier with me would never again dine,
Since his broken glass I saw one time.

Many wonders I saw and heard,
One special in a garden I crossed,
Against a tree I slept and rested,
And woke to a dream of a laughing man.

Yet one day I felt quite well,
That foggy day my home I missed,
And the lady that bound me with a spell,
So quick I ran to see all´s well.

I ran through the whole wide world,
I ran and ran until my head did spin,
Yet my home was nowhere to be seen,
Much I feared for my place in this whirl.

And from this fear I finally fell asleep,
In this sleep I fell to a dream,
Dreaming about the ocean´s keep,
Where on its shore it´s you I see.

Now knowing where home is and its distance,
I try to wake from this enchanting dream,
And I find myself dreaming in advance,
Dreaming of things not yet chanced.

Running away from this world in my mind,
I ran like a criminal through my thoughts and time,
I ran away from my mind trying to wake,
I ran like a criminal through my thoughts and time.

I ran like a criminal through my thoughts and time…
