The
Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries (LDWF) Office
of Fisheries announced today that the Private Oyster Lease
Rehabilitation Program (POLR) is set to begin May 25. In order
to participate in the program a signed Cooperative Endeavor
Agreement with the State of Louisiana is required.
Oyster
leaseholding entities in Louisiana who pre-applied to participate
in the POLR program will be receiving a packet of information
in the mail. It will include a draft copy of the POLR Cooperative
Endeavor Agreement along with other information about program
requirements.
Leaseholders
are asked to review the document, and in particular, the additional
information required to complete and properly execute an agreement,
and to use it as a guide to provide the other required information
they will need in order to complete and properly execute an
agreement.
Leaseholders
are urged to attend one of four signup meetings that will
be held in the coming weeks. Meetings are scheduled for May
25 in Belle Chasse, May 31 in Houma, June 8 in Baton Rouge
and June 11 in Chalmette. Details of the meeting locations
and agendas are provided in the mail packet.
