Louisiana
Sea Grant and the LSU AgCenter are requesting your participation
in an on-line survey regarding the coastal property known
as Elmer’s Island. Until its closure in 2002, this 1700
acre coastal tract in lower Lafourche Parish was a popular
fishing and camping destination for decades of Louisiana citizens
and out of state tourists. A legislative resolution has been
introduced requesting that the State of Louisiana purchase
the property, but significant questions remain if the land
is to be acquired for public use.
Your participation
in this survey will provide valuable information for decision-makers
engaged in this issue, while helping us to better understand
the general economic and environmental preferences for recreational
activities in coastal Louisiana. Input is needed from a wide
array of interest groups, including: fishermen, campers, hikers,
crabbers, photographers, birders, boaters, sunbathers, educators,
naturalists, commercial developers, state and federal resource
management personnel, and representatives of the coastal tourism
sector. To participate, simply click on the link below and
follow the instructions. Completion of the survey requires
approximately 15 minutes.
