University Hearing Panel - Students, Faculty & Staff

Information and Description

Student Advocacy & Accountability (SAA) chooses students, faculty and staff to serve as panelists on the University Hearing Panels annually. The University Hearing Panel (UHP) is composed of faculty, staff and students who work together in adjudicating cases on behalf of SAA. These panels hear cases of alleged academic and non-academic Code of Student Conduct violations. Each University Hearing Panel consists of 3-5 members, with at least one student, and one faculty member.

Before a University Hearing Panel is convened, most of the cases go through the Accountability process with an SAA official and do not require a formal meeting with the UHP. However, the Code of Student Conduct allows students to decline the administratively issued outcomes and proceed to the next step, the UHP. Being involved on campus is vital and becoming a member of the University Hearing Panel is a great opportunity for students, faculty and staff who seek leadership roles and professional development.
