Dear LSU Community,
Happy new year and welcome back! We hope that your winter break was safe and filled with family, friends, and relaxation, and that you are re-energized and prepared for the spring semester! We also want to extend a special welcome to those students and employees who are new to our campus this semester. We are thrilled to have you join the Tiger family and look forward to your contributions and successes. Welcome!
Despite the ongoing pandemic, we have much to celebrate and much to look forward to in the new year. Last month, we graduated the largest and one of the most diverse fall graduating classes in LSU history. Throughout 2020, we celebrated faculty and student awards and accomplishments, and contributed to the global effort to fight COVID-19 through research and scholarship. We also unveiled our Roadmap to Diversity document, and the subcommittees of that Roadmap who have made great strides in finding new ways to improve diversity, equity and inclusion at LSU. This spring, we will continue all of those efforts, and more. We want each of you to achieve your goals and be successful, and we also want to constantly improve this great university that we all love. Together, we will leave LSU a better place than we found it.
During the semester, if you need any type of assistance at all, please don’t hesitate to ask. LSU offers many types of resources to students and employees: academic and professional, health and safety, transportation, student life, and many others. Whatever you need, please ask a faculty member or colleague so that we can point you in the right direction.
Our hope in 2021 is that we are in the home stretch of the pandemic, but in the meantime, please keep wearing your masks, continue to maintain 6 feet of physical distance whenever possible, and keep washing your hands thoroughly and often. Thank you for your efforts and your sacrifices last fall, and let’s work together again this spring to have another successful semester. Geaux Tigers!
