Message from Interim President Galligan
September 4, 2020; 1:30 p.m.
Dear LSU Students,
As Labor Day approaches, we are looking forward to some extra time off over the long weekend. Whatever your plans are, I hope you have a great holiday. I also want to encourage you to be extra mindful about taking the necessary precautions to keep yourselves, those around you, and our campus community safe, especially if you plan to travel this weekend. Keep being great in protecting one another.
The increase in the number of positive COVID-19 cases reported on our campus since the start of the fall semester concerns us all—and we need to see the number of new cases going down, not up.
To stop the spread of COVID-19, it’s crucial that we continue to avoid large gatherings; wear our face coverings when we can’t practice physical distancing; wash our hands regularly and thoroughly; cough and sneeze into our elbows; and—most importantly—stay home if we’re not feeling well.
Being vigilant about taking these simple precautions matters now more than ever. We must begin flattening the curve on campus, and we don’t have time to lose. There’s too much at stake to make one too many mistakes.
Thank you for doing your part, have a wonderful holiday weekend—and stay safe!
Thomas C. Galligan, Jr.
