Research database has now 2,844 entries

July 1, 2009 (Baton Rouge): The forum's research database of diversity-related reference materials has now grown to nearly 3,000 entries. Included in annotated bibliography format are diversity-related journal articles, books, conference papers, essays, newspaper articles, online articles and book reviews. As part of consistent updating of the searchable research database, the forum has recently added more than 800 new entries.

Most of the new entries are on the practices of media, journalism and communication in both national and international contexts. As diversity is a broad concept and diversity education and research may be better informed through a multidisciplinary approach, the forum's research database, in addition to discussions of specific practices, includes entries highlighting cultural and social issues grounded in historical and contemporary perspectives.

The main purpose of this database is to help media diversity researchers and teachers, as well as professional journalists, to find contemporary research and other sources of literature on media diversity. This database is one of the continuing projects of the Forum on Media Diversity. It may be accessed directly at http://www.mediadiversityforum.lsu.edu/searchgateway.html

Forum involves Association of Black Communicators (ABC) in research database project

In accomplishing this update, the forum worked in collaboration with the Manship School's chapter of the Association of Black Communicators (ABC), a student organization. The forum specifically recognizes the help of Krystal Buggs, Morgan Etienne, Miracle Johnson, Ryan P. Martin, Maya Moore, DâSeante Parks, Paige Payne and Laronica Scales, all students in the Manship School of Mass Communication.
