Manship School receives diversity award at AEJMC's Boston convention
The Manship School Dean John Maxwell Hamilton received the National Equity
and Diversity Award from the Association for Education in Journalism & Mass Communication (AEJMC) at the Association's Boston convention on August 5, 2009.
Second presentation: The AEJMC President will travel to Louisiana State University to present the award to John Maxwell Hamilton as Dean of the Manship School, and University Chancellor, Mike Martin, in a ceremony honoring the school’s outstanding achievements in equity and diversity.
AEJMC introduced the National Equity and Diversity Award for the first time this year.

On this occasion, the Manship School of Mass Communication at Louisiana State University organized a special session at AEJMC Convention on best practices in equity and diversity in higher education on Wednesday, August 5. The session was featured by four panelists:

AEJMC Panel: Best practices in teaching diversity
The teaching committee of AEJMC sponsored the panel "Best Practices in Teaching Diversity" at the annual convention in Boston on August 5, 2009.

Lionel Barrow Award
Paula Poindexter, Texas at Austin, received the Lionel Barrow Award for Distinguished Achievement in Diversity. Poindexter, won the Barrow Doctoral Minority Student Scholarship award in 1978 (Source: AEJMC Newsletter "AEJMC Thrives in Boston").
JLID training moves on
AEJMC congratulated the 8th graduating class of
JLID (Journalism and Mass Communication Leadership Institute for Diversity).
JLID was created to provide training and mentoring for people of color and women interested in becoming JMC deans, directors or chairs (Source: AEJMC Newsletter "AEJMC Thrives in Boston").

The PF&R Committee will now 'house' the
