LSU Alumnus Mark A. Ventress Appointed to LSU University College’s Advisory Board
12/08/2016BATON ROUGE – Mark A. Ventress, DDS, dentist and business owner, has been appointed
to LSU University College’s Advisory Board.
“I am very excited to have the opportunity to serve on University College’s Advisory Board,” said Ventress.
LSU University College’s Advisory Board is comprised of 30 business executives and community leaders. It is a strong and active board, and members participate in a number of activities and events, selection of University College’s more than 65 scholarship recipients, and host/hostess to various LSU recruitment receptions.
“I am pleased to have Dr. Ventress join our advisory board. His professional success is a testimony to a successful LSU alumnus and his story will serve as an inspiration to our University College students,” said R. Paul Ivey, executive director of LSU University College. “We look forward to the benefits of his knowledge and expertise as a means of support for our students and our programs.
“LSU has given me so much both professionally and personally. I look forward to giving back to the university,” added Ventress.
Ventress, native of Lafayette, moved to Baton Rouge in 1992. He graduated LSU in 1994, and attended LSU School of Dentistry receiving his Doctorate of Dental Surgery.
Ventress, dentist and business owner, remains at the leading edge of developments in dental technologies and treatment approaches. Ventress holds membership in the following professional associations: American Dental Association, American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry, Louisiana Dental Association, Dawson Academy Alumni, and Pankey Institute Alumni.
Ventress is married to Eva M. Ventress, and they have two daughters, Ava and Vivian. He enjoys staying active through fitness training, playing tennis, hunting and fishing. Ventress volunteers with the Greater Baton Rouge Community Clinic, offering dental care services to the underserved in the community.
Since 1933, LSU University College has served as the portal of entry for students enrolled at LSU. Academic and personal success is the hallmark of a well-rounded student, and University College provides a foundation of support services for students beginning their academic careers at LSU. University College has two enrollment divisions: The Center for Freshman Year and The Center for Advising and Counseling. Additionally, University College offers retention-specific programs: Student Support Services, Ronald E. McNair Research Scholars and Summer Scholars. These academic support programs focus on particular student populations and are a significant part of the role and mission of University College.
