BATON ROUGE – The LSU University College Advisory Board gathered for its Annual Meeting and Pigskin Preview on Friday, Aug. 22. Hosted by LSU University College Executive Director R. Paul Ivey, the highlight of the Pigskin Preview was a visit from LSU Football Head Coach Les Miles, who addressed the board with an overview of the upcoming football season.

The day began with a testimony by Morgan Decuir, a senior majoring in elementary education with LSU College of Humanities & Social Sciences. Decuir shared her experiences as a Summer Scholars and Student Support Services participant.

“They have the best counselors who I can confide in academically and personally,” Decuir said of University College and Student Support Services. “The program is extremely beneficial. Whenever I need something, Student Support Services is always there to help.”

Following the welcome and introductions, advisory board members toured LSU’s new School of Nutrition and Food Sciences Building. Members were treated to an amazing culinary experience and learned about various in-house food scientists, as well as the LSU AgCenter’s Food Incubator program, which specializes in the development of emerging food ventures such as Hanley’s Sensation salad dressing and Militello’s Gourmet Specialties. Then, it was off to the LSU Football Operations Building to visit with Miles and receive an overview of the upcoming football season, before the day ended with a brief business meeting.
