Biography

Rockia Harris is a third-year doctoral student in the Manship School of Mass Communication. Her research explores how race, gender and activism are communicated through entertainment, news media and cultural experiences. Harris is also interested in mentorship and public policy, inspiring her recent completion of the Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion in the Workplace Certificate from the University of South Florida Muma College of Business (2021).

Prior to LSU, Harris received her B.A. in Gender & Women Studies, minoring in African American Studies (2017) from the University of Kentucky, and her M.A. in Communication (2019) from the University of Cincinnati. She also taught two years of Public Speaking and volunteered as a speech consultant for TedxUC during this time.
