Welcome Letter to Parents
Welcome to Academic Programs Abroad! We have been offering off-campus short-term programs and exchanges for LSU students for over 40 years. APA is here to ensure that your son or daughter has an academically fulfilling experience that meets his/her individual needs. Students can participate in our programs without falling behind in coursework at LSU. All courses from host universities transfer back to LSU and all summer or intersession programs feature LSU courses taught by LSU faculty.
Making longer term academic exchanges or short-term academic programs part of a student’s degree program is an increasingly important option for all students at LSU. These academic experiences will help them grow personally and also are a wise investment in your student’s professional future. Students who have participated in one of our programs are more competitive in the job market and in applications for graduate or medical school.
As your child explores his or her options, I'm sure you will have plenty of questions. The APA team consists of an exceptional group of professional staff and student Peer Advisors. We take a very personal approach to advising and accompanying our students. I can assure you that your child is in great hands. Of course, you are also welcome to talk to us. Special parent orientations for all international exchanges and summer/intersession programs are part of our regular events.
Answers to many of your questions can be found on our website. Please take a chance to browse the following information about:

We are happy to answer any additional questions you may have. Your student's experience is at the forefront of our minds in everything we do as an office. Please don't hesitate to contact us.
