We are partnering with the LSU Food Pantry for the 2019 Family Weekend Service Project.
The LSU Food Pantry opened in August 2013 with a mission of providing supplemental food to students who may experience hunger or food insecurity. The Food Pantry is a valuable resource for students. Last year the pantry was used 9,924 times by 1,108 students. This translates into 110,999 pounds of food distributed to LSU students.
The Food Pantry is in constant need of food items to keep up with this demand, and we know our LSU Families can help! The staff in Campus Life has provided the top five things that are needed. Families can bring these to Family Weekend and drop them off at check-in in the front lobby of the LSU Student Union. Contributions are also accepted via the pantry’s Amazon Wish list or their online giving page at lsu.edu/foodpantry. Thank you so much for helping to restock the pantry!
If you are able, please bring these items to Family Weekend:
- Proteins (Beans, Tuna, Peanut Butter, Vienna Sausages, etc.)
- Rice (All kinds)
- Ready Meals (Chef Boyardee, Easy Mac, Soups, etc.)
- Snacks (granola bars, nuts, chips, trail mix, crackers)
