Global Studies Residential College |
|||||||||||||||||||
What is Global Studies?Global Studies is a new residential option for LSU Freshmen and Sophomores. This program is open to students from any degree program in any senior college. When possible, American and international students will be paired as roommates as part of the Global Studies experience.The Global Studies Residential College is housed in Le Jeune hall in the historic Pentagon section of campus. By residing together in the residence hall, students in the global studies program will gain several advantages offered by LSUs residential colleges. Because they will be enrolled together in the same sections of common courses (such as English, Gen Ed science, etc.), they will be able to study together easily for these courses. In addition, course instructors will be invited to hold office hours or review sessions in the residence hall and will meet with students for discussions and social occasions. Our location adjacent to the Information Technology Residential College in Broussard Hall will allow Global Studies students to take advantage of the facilities and programming organized for the students living in Broussard Hall. Programs in the residence hall will reinforce and extend lessons learned in the classroom. Students studying the same foreign language will be encouraged to form study groups and run programs such as language tables at mealtimes. The division of Le Jeune Hall into 20-student stacks will facilitate the creation of neighborhoods of students studying the same foreign language, giving students more opportunity to use the languages they are studying. | ||||||||||||||||||||

Global Studies Courses
Students are expected to take at least 2 courses from the list of Global Studies courses. These courses have been carefully selected so that they meet as many of the LSU General Education requirements as possible. This ensures that students are on track to graduate in 4 years by meeting their General Education requirements relatively quickly.
