Split Leaf or Tree Philodendron

Family: Araceae
Zone: 8-10                              Average Size: 15’H x 10’W

-Simple leaf, deeply lobed with prominent pinnate veination
-Round trunk-like stem with large oval leaf scars
-Extensive surface roots

Note:   The Split Leaf philodendron is a popular houseplant that thrives outside in the lower South having a sprawling form and coarse texture. Freezing temperatures may damage the foliage, but the thick stem usually survives. Although adapted to full sunlight, the Split Leaf Philodendron grows best in partial shade. A dwarf selection ‘Winterbourn’ known as its trade name Xanadu has proved to be much less cold hardy.
