Cedrus deodara

Deodar Cedar

Family: Pinaceae
Zone: 6-9                                Average Size: 30’H x 15’W

-Stiff needles clustered at the tip of short spurs along the stem, blue-green, evergreen
-Pyramidal form with horizontal branches, slightly pendulous

Note:   A native to the Himalayas, the Deodar Cedar is a popular evergreen in the upper South although not as widely available in the nursery industry. In recent years the use of faster growing evergreen has been more popular, but few trees have the distinctive form, blue-green foliage and fine texture. Once established the Deodar Cedar is long-lived in the landscape.
