Continuity of Operations Plans
Monday, March 16, 2020; 9:45 a.m.
To campus leaders:
In anticipation of the possibility of moving to an extended remote work status (with the exception of essential employees as outlined in PS-18), we're asking all supervisors to prepare concise plans that ensure continuity of operations for their areas of responsibility. Please submit these plans to your department/unit head by close of business today, March 16th.
We understand that some employees will still need to come to campus at least periodically to fulfill their responsibilities during a remote work situation, so those exceptions should be documented as part of your plans, as should any expansion of the definition of “essential employees.
Your plans should also include ways in which you intend to redirect staff (both classified and unclassified) to handle tasks outside of their normal job duties during this period. The HRM Office can provide guidance to supervisors in this regard at 225-578-8200. Plans should also include emergency contact information for all essential employees to include mobile and/or home phone numbers.
To accommodate the special needs of research facilities, ORED is distributing a separate request updating the call for research continuity plans that was originally sent out on March 13.
We realize this is short notice and may be a burden to some, but the situation continues to change rapidly and we need to all be prepared. Thank you for your continued commitment and support of our students, faculty, and staff during these unusual times.
