Academic Advising

Advising Overview

For Spring 2021, the Office of Student Success is not providing in-person advising. We are assisting students by email and scheduled virtual appointments.

Students are strongly encouraged to speak with academic advisor at least once each semester to stay on track to graduate. Degree plan flowcharts are available further down on this page to assist in planning; it is recommended students review their degree plan before meeting with an advisor or scheduling courses.

Virtual Advising

Drop-In Advising

Virtual Drop-Ins are offered at peak advising times during the semester. Drop-In Advising is not being offered at this time. When dates become available for Drop-In Advising the webpage will update with available times and days.

CMDA students can schedule a virtual appointment through the Navigate Student app. Please make sure you have the latest version of the app (August 13 or later) in order to have full access to virtual resources. If you do not have the app installed, download links are available further down this webpage. Students can also visit the LSU Navigate Website to check-in. Appointments are scheduled according to Central Standard Time.

When scheduling an appointment, select the following options as prompted:

  • Care Unit: Academic Advising
  • Location: College of Music & Dramatic Arts
  • Service: Advising (Virtual)

Staff Availability

Alexia Perez is available to meet with First-Year Music students. Joshua Allred is available to meet with First-Year Theatre students. Students can also email Interim Assistant Dean Amy Smith for assistance. Due to the high volume of requests during this time, email responses may be delayed longer than usual. While email requests will continue to be monitored and responses provided, priority assistance will be given to students using the app to schedule virtual appointments.

Get the Navigate App

Students are required to download the Navigate Student app, which can be used to schedule appointments with counselors and other features like To-Dos, Study Buddies, Resources, Holds, and Class Schedule.
