About The Ensemble
The LSU Symphonic Band is the largest concert organization in the Department of Bands and is comprised of musicians from academic disciplines across the entire University. Membership is by individual audition and is open to all regularly enrolled students regardless of major. The LSU Symphonic Band performs classic repertoire of original band music in addition to select orchestral and keyboard transcriptions.
The ensemble meets on Monday from 3:40 PM to 5:30 PM in the Fall, and on Monday and Wednesday from 3:40 PM to 5:30 PM during the Spring. The ensemble performs one concert in the Fall and two concerts in the Spring. The enrollment for each band numbers approximately 70 - 100 musicians each semester, and the course number is MUS 4252.
The LSU Symphonic Band is under the direction of Dr. Kelvin Jones, Assistant Director of Bands.
