LSU Virtual Math Ready Program
The LSU Virtual Math Ready Program is a summer bridge program designed to prepare incoming freshmen for taking Calculus I in the Fall Semester. Participants of the program will take Foundations of Calculus, a non-credit bearing course, virtually over three weeks (July 13 – July 31, 2020). This course will focus on developing students’ mathematical reasoning, problem-solving skills, and study habits while covering math concepts foundational to understanding and doing calculus.
Duration: 3 weeks
Dates: July 13 – July 31, 2020
- Incoming LSU freshman for Fall 2020
- Enrolled in 1550 for Fall 2020
- ACT Composite Score of 27 or below and/or Math Subscore of 25 or below
Classes will be held over Zoom daily, and the course will be hosted on Moodle. During class, students will participate in short lectures given by an instructor and work in small groups to complete various tasks and activities. Each group will be assigned an academic mentor who will assist them throughout the program. In addition to daily class, students will have the opportunity to attend office hours where they can receive one-on-one and small-group support from the instructor or their academic mentor. By the end of the program, students will be ready to take and successfully complete the rigors of a Math 1550!
Please note, the cost of the program will be added to students’ Fall fee bill.
