About Us

Overview

The Stephenson Department of Entrepreneurship & Information Systems prepares students for two distinct professional pathways.

Our entrepreneurship curriculum is designed to teach, coach, and inspire students to be entrepreneurial in their lives. Students gain the tools and experiences necessary to creatively pursue new opportunities and innovations in the startup, social, and corporate venture arenas. Entrepreneurship courses teach students the ins and outs of understanding how to operate, grow, and manage their own business (entrepreneurship) and how to be creative, innovative, and entrepreneurial in an existing organization (intrapreneurship).

Our information systems & decision sciences curriculum prepares students to design, implement, analyze, and manage information technology systems. Research collaborations leverage the diverse research interests and expertise of our faculty in domains as varied as medical informatics, e-commerce, disaster management, IT outsourcing, data mining, quantitative modeling, privacy/ethics, global e-business, the strategic use of technology, and traffic safety. These collaborative research efforts have resulted in major grant funding received from the National Science Foundation and elsewhere.
