BATON ROUGE - The LSU Department of Accounting will host the third installment of its ongoing regional workshop series that is designed to bring together accounting researchers and practitioners from all across Louisiana on March 6, 2009. The workshop will be conducted by Mary Barth, a professor at Stanford University and member of the International Accounting Standards Board. 

Barth is the Joan E. Horngren Professor of Accounting and Senior Associate Dean for Academic Affairs at the Stanford Graduate School of Business. Her research has been published in a variety of journals and has won several awards, including the Wildman Medal Award, the Competitive Manuscript Award, and, on two occasions, the Best Paper Award of the Financial Accounting and Reporting Section of the American Accounting Association. Barth is a recipient of the Stanford GSB's MBA Distinguished Teaching Award and Ph.D. Faculty Distinguished Service Award. 

Prior to joining the faculty at Stanford in 1995, Barth was an Associate Professor at Harvard Business School and an audit partner in Arthur Andersen & Co. Barth holds an AB from Cornell University, an M.B.A. from Boston University, and a Ph.D. from Stanford University.

The research workshop will begin at 2:30 p.m. in Patrick F. Taylor Hall, Room 1110 with a presentation by Barth. After the presentation, a reception will be held honoring Barth at the Crescent Condominium Apartments, located at 990 Stanford Avenue.  During the reception, Barth will hold an international cross-disciplinary seminar discussing her involvement with the IASB.

  • 4:30 p.m.-5:15 p.m. – Reception: Crescent Condominium Apartments, 990 Stanford Ave, 1st Building, 2nd Floor Club House 
  • 5:15 p.m.-6:00 p.m. – International Financial Reporting Standards—Current Developments and U.S. Adoption
  • 6:00 p.m.-7:30 p.m. – Post Reception and Q&A for Professor Barth
