Students interested in pursuing veterinary medicine at the LSU School of Veterinary Medicine may consider this pre-veterinary concentration which focuses on livestock and companion animals. This concentration is designed for students to complete the required courses and apply to the LSU SVM by junior year. If accepted to the LSU SVM, students will complete their last 40 hours at the LSU SVM and then be awarded the Bachelor of Science in Animal Sciences. *Should a student not be granted admission to the LSU SVM their junior year, the student will then choose another concentration to complete their fourth year and be awarded the Bachelor of Science in Animal Sciences. Students may re-apply to the LSU SVM or apply to other veterinary medicine programs at this point.

Career Possibilities: Livestock production, animal scientist, research (genetics, animal breeding, animal behavior, animal product and process management), 4-H youth development, feed and pharmaceutical sales, meat and dairy product inspection, poultry scientist, graduate or professional school, veterinarian (with additional education).
