Animal Sciences

 

Animal Production


This concentration is designed to provide prepare students for careers in a variety of animal production enterprises and related agribusiness industries in beef cattle, swine, dairy cattle, small ruminants, horses, and poultry. Graduates of this program will have a background in all aspects of live animal production, including nutrition, reproductive physiology, general physiology, genetics, and management of livestock and companion animal species. Career opportunities may include farm management; technical support and sales in feed, pharmaceutical, and supply companies; and various state and federal agencies including the Cooperative Extension Service.


Career Possibilities: Livestock production, animal scientist, research (genetics, animal breeding, animal behavior, animal product and process management), 4-H youth development, feed and pharmaceutical sales, meat and dairy product inspection, poultry scientist, graduate or professional school, veterinarian (with additional education).
