See below for a list of all available grants.
Go Grant
This is a limitedly funded state grant program and the award is based on financial need. Eligible students must meet all of the following criteria:
- Louisiana Resident as reported on the FAFSA
- File a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA)
- Receive a federal Pell grant
- Have remaining financial need after deducting Student Aid Index (SAI) and all federal/state/institutional grant or scholarship aid (‘gift aid’) from student’s Cost of Attendance (COA)
- Be a student enrolled in an eligible Louisiana institution on at least a half-time basis (minimum 6 hours)
Pell Grant
A federal Pell grant, unlike a loan, does not have to be repaid. Pell grants are awarded only to undergraduate students who have not earned a bachelor’s or professional degree. Pell grants are awarded to students who are eligible based on the results of the FAFSA and their Student Aid Index (SAI). Effective with the 2012-2013 award year, the duration of a student’s eligibility to receive a federal Pell grant is 12 full-time semesters. The calculation of duration will include all years that the student previously received the federal Pell grant funding.
Students whose parent or guardian died as a result of U.S. military service in Iraq or Afghanistan after September 11, 2001 may be eligible to receive a maximum Pell Grant after review of supporting documentation.
Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grant (SEOG)
The federal Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grant (SEOG) program is for undergraduates with exceptional financial need. Pell Grant recipients with the lowest Student Aid Index (SAI) will be considered first for an SEOG. Just like the federal Pell Grant, the SEOG does not have to be repaid. Funds for this program are limited.
Teacher Education Assistance for College and Higher Education (TEACH) Grant
The TEACH Grant program is a federal non-need-based grant program that provides students who are enrolled in an eligible program, maintain a 3.25 GPA, and commit to teach in a high-need field, at a low-income elementary or secondary school, for at least 4 years within 8 years of completing the program for which the TEACH Grant was awarded. If the grant recipient fails to complete the required teaching service, the TEACH Grant is converted to a Federal Direct Unsubsidized Stafford Loan, and interest will be charged from the date of original disbursement.
