The Clarence L. Barney Jr. African American Cultural Center (AACC) maintains a goal of student development through access and representation of historic African American culture, heritage, and tradition. This communal resource provides expansive educational and development opportunities for interested community members and is open to all LSU students.

We are located on 86 Veterans Drive, behind Barnes & Noble and next to the William A. Brookshire Military & Veterans Student Center.

what We Do

The center also provides a venue for all students to learn about Black and African American culture, heritage, and traditions. It enriches the LSU community in increased knowledge sharing and understanding of the Black and African American experience.

We encourage you to visit and use our study spaces, meeting rooms, and library. If you have any questions about the services we provide, please visit or give us a call. In the meantime, we hope to see you at one of our campus programs.

who We Serve

The AACC that has now been serving the students, faculty, and staff of LSU and the Baton Rouge community for over 20 years. It is a welcoming space that provides purposeful, holistic, scholarly, and cocurricular programming designed to engage the LSU community.

The Center is a great place to explore, hold study groups, plan and host meetings and events, and engage in various activities. Our programming is open to everyone and aims to enhance the academic, cultural, and social development of the entire community. We welcome all individuals to explore and engage with our energetic community, while focusing on the rich and diverse aspects of Black culture and history.
