Welcome to AFROTC Detachment 310 at Louisiana State University!

Our mission is to produce outstanding leaders for both the United States Air Force and United States Space Force and build responsible citizens for our nation.

Marching Cadets

The Air Force Reserve Officer Training Corps (AFROTC) is a 4-year leadership program that provides the opportunity for students become Air Force officers while completing their bachelor's degree.

Become part of the best Air and Space Force in the world!

Cadet Life

As a cadet, you will be required to juggle many schedules: primarily your academics, but also your personal life, fitness, medical appointments, work, fraternities/sororities, etc. However, this program is worth the effort. Do not sell yourself short; become a leader of our nation's heroes.

Cadets participate in two early morning 1-hour physical training sessions, a 2-hour Leadership Laboratory (ASST 1011), and a 1-credit Air & Space course (ASST 1001) every week. The total time requirement for freshman cadets is 5-6 hours each week.

Program Details

The General Military Course (GMC) is taken during the freshman and sophomore years.

Take advantage of the opportunity to  test the Air Force out and see if you have what it takes to be an officer. The first two years incur no service commitment.

Students who complete the GMC progress into the second half of the program, the Professional Officer's Course (POC) for their junior and senior years of college. During the POC years, cadets get to get hands on experience leading the GMC cadets.

Prior to entry into the POC, students must complete a 19-day summer Field Training encampment.
