Dual Enrollment

Program Overview

LSU has a Concurrent Enrollment Program especially designed for high school students who demonstrate the maturity and scholastic ability to be successful in college work. Participation in this program permits exceptional high school seniors to enroll in one or more courses at LSU when space, faculty, and other facilities are available. Students enrolled in this program will be required to attend classes on LSU’s campus.

Requirements to Participate

Students interested in concurrent enrollment must meet the following requirements:

  • GPA of 3.00
  • composite ACT score of 27 or SAT score of 1210
  • recommendation from high school principal or counselor for enrollment in a specific course or courses
  • must have completed the most advanced courses offered by their school in the academic areas in which they wish to enroll or must be considered qualified for the college course by the principal or counselor

Cost

Students who participate in concurrent enrollment at LSU are responsible for all costs associated with attending LSU. These costs may include, but are not limited to, tuition and fees, a student parking permit, and books.

Immunization

Louisiana law requires immunization against measles, mumps, rubella, and tetanus-diphtheria, as well as a tuberculosis screening for all first-time LSU students. This includes students who are participating in concurrent enrollment. Students should submit their records to the LSU Student Health Center prior to attending class.

Application

Continued concurrent enrollment requires renewed approval each semester. Complete the Concurrent Enrollment Program form to get started.

Math Courses

Students who are interested in taking a course in MATH 1550 or higher must receive a passing score on the ALEKS test. Scores must be submitted to Office of Enrollment Management prior to enrolling in a course.

The LSU College Readiness Program allows eligible high school students to receive credit for specific college courses. These courses are facilitated at the student’s high school by teachers who have been certified by LSU to participate in the program.

LSU will accept all dual enrollment credit from four-year institutions, as well as academic-based, college-level credit from two-year institutions. Use the Tiger Transfer Tables to see how credit will transfer to LSU.

Students who enroll in any dual enrollment courses for college credit must attain a 2.0 college GPA. Students will need to request the college or university that awarded credit to send an official transcript to the address below. Transcripts can also be sent through eSCRIP-SAFE.
