About Information Systems & Decision Sciences
Information systems and decision sciences professionals are among the highest paid recent college graduates with a top starting salary ranging from $50,000 to $65,000. The Department of Information Systems & Decision Sciences offers two constantly updated concentrations: information technology, for students interested in designing, programming, and testing website applications and building database systems; and business intelligence, for students interested in analytics.
Learn problem-solving, business intelligence, and analytic skills; how to evaluate “big data” and extract actionable information; and how to understanding industry-specific analytics in marketing, healthcare, and telecommunications.
Learn to use existing software libraries for computing tasks and user interfaces; design, program, and test websites and applications; and build database management systems and other software applications.

Once you're an LSU student, you'll need to meet the requirements below to continue pursuing this major.
- 30 credit hours of college-level coursework
- at least 12 credit hours from the LSU Flagship campus
- at least 9 credit hours in business courses
- grade of “C-” or better in ACCT 2001, ECON 2000, ENGL 1001, ISDS 1102, MATH 1021, and MATH 1431
- 2.6 cumulative GPA and cumulative LSU GPA
- 2.3 business GPA and LSU business GPA
